About JOAN
Joan Reutershan creates colorful mixed-media collage paintings based on her experience of the streetscape in New York City, especially Brooklyn.
Reutershan received her BFA summa cum laude from Hunter College, City University of New York, and an MA Degree in Art History, also from Hunter College. She has exhibited in solo shows at the Florida School of the Arts Main Gallery (Palatka, FL), the Gallery at Port Washington Public Library, NY, and has an upcoming solo exhibition at the Mariboe Gallery at Swig Arts Center (Heightstown, NJ). Venues for her group exhibitions include Gallery Cubed (Brooklyn, NY), the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts (Woodstock, NY) and the Art Gallery at St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn, NY).
Reutershan frequently attends artist residencies, most recently at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Amherst, VA, and Byrdcliffe Art Colony in Woodstock, NY. She is an active participant in NYC Crit Club, and a member of the College Art Association, Abingdon Square Painters, and the Robert Blackburn Print Studio. Reutershan lives in Brooklyn and works in Long Island City, NY.
